CREATE STUDENT DESIGNS AND DELIVERS QUANTUM BOOTCAMP WITH IBM

Addie Jordon is a University of Victoria Computer Science Masters student and NSERC CREATE in Quantum Computing scholar. Under the supervision of  Dr. Ulrike Stege and Dr. Hausi Muller at UVic,  he did his CREATE program-required internship in partnership with Multiverse Computing and the Quantum Algorithms Institute.

During the 4 month internship, Addie created materials from scratch for what would become a quantum software engineering bootcamp in partnership with IBM. Once the materials were developed, Addie was able to teach quantum computing concepts to industry professionals as well as students from varied backgrounds.

This internship experience tied in well with Addie’s research, which is focussed on quantum education and quantum walks. He created many educational materials that he can later use in his thesis.

“My internship with QAI and Multiverse was a highlight for me of the CREATE Program. I was able to pursue my research interests in a supportive, professional environment and learned so much from the experience. The work I produced and the skills I learned integrated well into both conference publications and my thesis. Overall, I am very grateful to have had this opportunity.”
